About Bunce Rental

Forged from the crucible that was World War II, two returning soldiers, Norman “Bud” Greenfield & Frank “Shorty” Bunce, teamed up to sell farm implements from what was the old nursery on East Main Street in Puyallup. Realizing there was more money to be made renting tools instead of selling them, Norman and Frank opened up Bunce Rental in 1946.

Since then, Bunce Rental has expanded to include equipment rental stores in Tacoma, Spanaway, and in the South Hill area of Puyallup. In 1959, American Medical Rental & Supply was formed. In 1963, Bunce Rental branched out into the party and event rental business which eventually became American Party Place. At first, American Party Place was run out of the Bunce Rental equipment rental stores. In 2007, American Party Supply moved out of the equipment rental stores and into their own building, just down the street from the Tacoma store.

Bunce Rental is currently owned by Norm Greenfield's sons, Jack and Mark Greenfield. Mark & Jack started working for Bunce Rental during the summers after their 11th birthdays, learning the in and outs of the business. In 1974, they took over operations of the business from their father, who now resides in Arizona.

While Bunce Rental has seen a lot of changes since 1946, one thing remains the same; our mission to provide excellent, friendly service and reliable, quality equipment and 0ur goal to contribute to the success of our customers, our community and our business.
